Hey Kids!  I’ve got an idea… Every once in a while I’ll go somewhere,,, then you can try to figure out where I am!  One important and fun thing about writing is that you can take it with you wherever you go – and I always do!  In fact, some of my best ideas come to me when I’m away from home.

So… I’ll show you photos of a place somewhere in the world.  I’ll make sure that there are some landmarks you can figure out and if you live nearby – you’ll definitely be able to recognize them!  The first person to guess my location will win 1 copy of ALL of my books, signed to YOU and autographed by ME!  You have to be pretty specific.  For example, you can’t just name a state.  To win this, you should be able to figure out the name of the town or general area and be able to describe it well enough that there is no question you know the place!  Sound like fun?  It won’t be easy!!!  Good luck!

Pretty flowers!  These cool flowers don’t last too long.  They often fall off within a day or two and are very fragrant.  You might see them in other colors like yellow and pink.

Down the road a ways, there are several places you’ll recognize if you live nearby! Does this little church with the ocean right behind it look familiar?

I stopped in at this little store a couple of times to pick up a few things like butter mochi!  We altered the photo a bit to hide the name of the store – so, you’ll have to figure it out!
I saw a few of you kids here buying some ice cream!

Here I am squeezing in a bit of writing.  I’ve got my yellow pad of paper and a pen.  No computer!  It’s my favorite way to write!

This is where the best ideas start!  What do you think I’m working on… a poem?  a spooky chapter book?  Only I know!  (and the crabs!)  As you can see, writing can be very hard work.  If you haven’t tried writing, then you should ‘get your feet wet’ sometime!

Mmmm!  I’m in the mood for some tropical fruit! Does anyone know where I can find some Tropical Fruits 4 Sale?

How ’bout a pineapple?  They grow them here!  Have you ever seen what a pineapple looks like when it’s growing?

Well, it looks like this… only it’s growing!

Now’s a good time for a coconut!  What you see here are the centers – the ‘nut’ part with the thick ‘husk’ all peeled away.  Coconuts don’t look like this on the palm tree.  If you live nearby, you already know that!

So, by now you’ve probably figured out where I am! NO!?  Well, o.k., here’s one more hint… if you live nearby, your school is probably right behind this cool, old beach shop!
You might walk or ride the bus past it every time you go to school!
