I have had many authors visit both of my schools over the years and your visit is one of the most memorable. You are completely engaging with the students and have gotten them jazzed about poetry. One student told me she didn’t want the day to end!

I want to thank you for the excellent visit! Our county has a Poetry and Prose On Stage event each year. Many of our students prepared a recitation of one of Mr. Mike’s poems. Your visit was one of those bright spots that will be remembered when our students are adults, sending their children to Jefferson School.
I might also start to write poems when I grow up!
My son got your books and we have been reading them ever since he got them. He has been encouraged to read even more on his own since getting the books and I am surprised at some of the words he knows. I think by meeting you and then getting the books it has more meaning.

Teaching students to read and write is one of the most difficult things we face as teachers. Because not only do we want to teach the basic skills, we want to foster a foundation of finding enjoyment in the process.
Having a real children’s author right here on our campus, was truly a treat! You are the perfect example of doing something special with one’s written work! Thanks again for taking time out of your busy life to visit us!

Your assembly made a great impression on the students to write poetry. I submitted 24 poems to the National Schools Project Publishing and 17 of our students were contacted by this company for permission to publish their poems!
